The brush fire season started about three weeks earlier than usual today as Meredith companies were called at 12:07 to a large brush fire in the Town of Hill. A special request from Incident Command for a crew and 14 Utility 2 (Argo) to the scene was made. This fire ultimately burned 82 acres, involved twenty six departments and required two days to extinguish.
Later that day at 17:28, 14C3 (Joslin) notified the Communications Center by radio of a brush fire at 140 Camp Waldron Road. Crews responded quickly and contained the fire before nearby structures as well as a large propane tank became involved. Approximately three-fourths of an acre burned. Cause was determined to be improper disposal of wood stove ashes. After extensive overhaul of the area, companies returned to service at 18:50.
