Meredith companies were notified at 15:10 that an ultralight aircraft had crashed into Meredith Bay on Lake Winnipesaukee. Laconia was also dispatched automatic aid. Meredith Fire Department and Laconia Fire Department boats arrived in the area and assisted New Hampshire Marine Patrol, who had been in the general vicinity prior to the crash, with bringing the pilot to shore to an awaiting Stewarts Ambulance. Luckily the pilot sustained minor non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia for treatment.
The pilot managed to escape the aircraft before it sunk in approximately 65 feet of water. Per New Hampshire Marine Patrol, recovery of the aircraft would be attempted on August 11th.
Meredith and Laconia companies were returned to service at 16:41.
