The Meredith Fire Department was alerted at 3:45 of a building fire at 9 True Road. 14C1 (Jones) arrived at 3:55 and reported smoke showing from a single story 24' x 40' single family dwelling. At 4:02, 14C1 called for a first alarm advising working fire in the basement and extending into the first floor. Crews entering the basement encountered high heat and heavy smoke. Complicating the fire attack, the basement was extremely cluttered which impeded access to the fire.
The first alarm brought companies from Center Harbor, Laconia, Holderness, and Moultonborough to the scene. Ashland provide a cover truck for the Meredith Downtown station and New Hampton covered the Meredith Center station.
All companies were in service by 6:47.
