First Alarm Building Fire on Old Perkins Road
March 18, 2022
Meredith Fire Department personnel were alerted at 14:42 for a smoke investigation in the area of Camp Waldron Road and Weed Road. A subsequent call to Lakes Region Mutual Fire Communications Center reported a barn that was fully involved at 14 Old Perkins Road and Meredith crews were given the update. 14C1 (Jones) requested a first alarm based on the notification. 14C1 arrived on scene at 14:52 and reported a 20' x 40' barn fully involved and the first arriving engine to lay a supply line up the driveway. The first arriving crews quickly knocked down the fire and protected several exposures. The building was being used as a woodworking shop and a large quantity of lumber and machinery was lost in the blaze. All companies were returned to service by 20:00. Companies from Laconia, New Hampton, Holderness, Bristol, Gilford, and Belmont assisted at the scene.
